The 2022 Federal Budget promised an extra 50,000 places in the Home Guarantee Scheme – more than double that of the previous year’s contribution.
Of those places, 35,000 are allocated to first home buyers under the First Home Guarantee, which allows a deposit of as little as a 5 per cent, because the government will guarantee up to 15 per cent of the purchase price with the first home buyer grant, to waive lenders mortgage insurance.
